With some distance from the beginning of the 20th century, Hollywood produced some films that today can be remembered as classics. There is no doubt that the memories of the film will live on, and rightly so, being an idea as such. Spanning the 1920s through the 1940s, the term made many wonderful adaptations to Hollywood and the film industry.
The 1920s ushered in what may be one of the biggest changes in film recording: sound. While most motion pictures remained silent on screen, the latter part of this decade could see an increase in the number of pictures produced with sound. America used to appreciate going to the movies, and this became the beginning of a beautiful love story that continues today. As in all love relationships, there were a few bumps along the way. The stock market crash of 1929 ended the financial health of many people at some point in the decade. Fortunately, Hollywood is no longer struggling with financial adjustments.
In the 1930s, even though the economy was tough, he honestly described a variety of what Hollywood had become. Sound in moving pictures is now popular and color is beginning to reveal the great potential of the screen. An audience turned creative film was nurtured by the likes of John Wayne, Katharine Hepburn, Shirley Temple and many other great people destined to become legendary. Unfortunately, adding sound to the movie is now out of stock for everyone. Many silent film stars were unable to make the transition effectively. The 1930s also helped popularize some traditional horror films. The characters along with Dracula, Frankenstein and The Mummy continue to be popular with new fans of monster movies.
With the forties here is a struggle. The United States, along with most of the world, is now in the throes of World War II. Hollywood did its part to seek help and the war movie style of fighting exploded onto the scene. Many of the famous battle titles, including Casablanca and Battle of Midway, can make their way into traditional film recordings. Even after the wars ended, Hollywood continued to offer post-war films along with The Best Years of Our Lives that depict the problems faced by many returning veterans.
It is that long period that had the most profound effect on shaping Hollywood as we see it today. In many ways, the spirit of that long period is present in the present, because it has long been outmoded in film recording, and the memories of the Hollywood films it presented are destined to be remembered, but in no way to be reproduced.
